Zu befürchtende Folgen des Klimawandels für Europa
Die Financial Times berichtet heute über ein Dokument, das auf EU-Ebene diskutiert wird und die möglichen Folgen des Klimawandels für Europa beschreibt: Under both scenarios within a decade some 11,000 extra people a year could be dying from heat while rising sea levels cause damage worth billions of euros, it warns. Further into the future, a 2.2°C temperature rise would see almost 29,000 extra people a year dying in southern Europe from 2071. In the north, 27,000 would die from heat but 20,000 lives would be saved from the cold. ... The ocean would acidify, hitting fish stocks. Fish would also migrate northwards. Droughts and floods would be more severe. The cost of a flood in the Danube basin, as suffered by Hungary a few years ago, could rise 19 per cent. An extra 240,000 people would be affected. Wenn es den Schäubles und Wiefelspützes tatsächlich um die Sicherheit der europäischen Bevölkerung ginge, sollte man diesen Themen vielleicht mehr Aufmerksamkeit widmen.
